Our professional, multilingual guides and their vehicles are carried on board, ready to take you wherever you wish to go. And you don't have to constantly pack and unpack!

We understand that not everyone wants to do the same thing at the same time. The Shongololo Express is specifically designed to provide everyone with the best of all worlds. Whether you want a leisurely round of golf or a close encounter with a Great White Shark, we'll take care of the details. There are a variety of excursions on offer, but participation is entirely up to you. A multitude of activities occurs simultaneously, giving you unprecedented freedom of choice. The experiences you can select include:
· A night in a bush camp in the Kruger or Hluhluwe/Umfolozi national parks
· Great White Shark diving off the Cape south coast
· Horse riding along the Cape Peninsula
· Hot air ballooning over the Victoria Falls
· White water rafting down the Zambezi river
· Elephant-back safaris
· Quad-biking in the Namibian desert
· Charter flights to meet the Himba people of the Kaokoveld

Cuisine
On board of the train, you'll dine on uniquely Southern African cuisine, ranging from Cape Dutch to Malay and authentic African dishes. We use only the best quality products in combinations that will tantalise your taste buds. Each meal is complemented by a superb selection of highly commended South African wines. Friendly and efficient staff are on hand to meet your every need.
After dinner, enjoy a drink at our bar or in the company of fellow travellers in our lounge. If you wish to experience the local night-life when the train departs late, transport and guides for evening outings are available at no extra charge.
Facilities
Each train has its own bar, cafe/lounge, dining and accommodation carriages. As in any hotel, bedding, towels and soap are provided. Cabins have ample storage space and closets are equipped with both hangers and shelving. All passenger compartments have hand basins with running water. Power is 220V AC and European plug adaptors are provided. In addition, there is an onboard laundry service. Our excursion vehicles are fully air-conditioned Mercedes Benz Sprinters, which have been adapted to African road and off-road conditions. They seat a maximum of 12 people comfortably.
Pre and Post Accommodation and General Notes
ARRIVAL HOTELS
We strongly recommend that all Guests spend their first night in a hotel or on board the train, as the first day includes a full day of touring. It would be uncomfortable for the Guests to arrive after a longhaul flight and start touring. We have listed hotels at each point of arrival or departure for collections or drop-offs. Client collection will be done from the hotels specified only. In the event that clients require transfers from alternative venues, a charge of
ZAR 200.00 or US$ 20.00 per person (Southern Cross) will be levied for passengers staying in Johannesburg. Guests requiring transfers from Pretoria will be charged ZAR 300.00 or
US$ 30.00 per person (Southern Cross).
A PRE OR POST NIGHT ON THE TRAIN
Guests may spend a Pre or Post night on the Train at an additional cost
All rates are per person inclusive of dinner, bed & breakfast.

Applicable Tourism levies are included in the tour price.
