Shongololo Rail Adventures
Affordable train adventure

The name Shongololo (meaning “centipede” in Zulu) was given to the first trains in East Africa by the indigenous people. When viewed on the horizon, the train resembled the movement and length of the shongololo. Discover yourself on a fully serviced travelling hotel train, where you’ll meet like-minded people from all over the world. Experience the magic of Namibia and South Africa in an affordable and fun filled way aboard the Shongololo Dune Express. This tour has been extended to include Cape Town, South Africa to offer you the best of both countries. Taking in the most popular attractions of Namibia and including remote and stunningly beautiful destinations in the western part of South Africa, such as the Augrabies Falls, Graaf Reinet, Swartberg Pass and the Karoo, this is a truly spectacular tour.

Pre and Post Accommodation and General Notes

We strongly recommend that all Guests spend their first night in a hotel or on board the train, as the first day includes a full day of touring. Client collection will be done from the hotels specified only. In the event that clients require transfers from alternative venues, a charge of ZAR 200.00 or US$ 20.00 per person (Southern Cross) will be levied for passengers staying in Johannesburg. Guests requiring transfers from Pretoria will be charged ZAR 300.00 or US$ 30.00 per person (Southern Cross).

Guests may spend a Pre or Post night on the Train at an additional cost

All rates are per person inclusive of dinner, bed & breakfast.
