He has been guiding tours all over Southern Africa and has opted to concentrate after all these years on the untouched wildlife of Botswana and Namibia. His passion for Africa’s nature and adventure has made him pursue his lifetime goal of photographic safaris and eco friendly tours in Botswana.

Louis Milne (40) is the second partner in Skatul safaris and has 15 years of experience in Safari, overland and River adventures in Southern Africa. Louis shares the same passions for Africa’s wildlife and together with hennie and have opted his interest in Botswana and sharing his experiences with fellow wildlife adventurers. The members of Skatul Safaris and its excellent permanent local guides provide you with knowledge, expertise and a passion for the untamed wildlife of Botswana.

2. Area Of Specialization
Skatul Safaris have decided to concentrate there off the beat and track Safari adventures in Northern Botswana, focusing on Moremi, Savuti and the Chobe Game reserve. The
Okavango Delta forms an ideal venue for game viewing and photographic safaris. Skatul safaris also concentrate on remote areas in Namibia especially along the Kaokoland and the Caprivi Strip. Skatul Safaris offers Scheduled departure tours for fixed itinerary Safaris, but we also accommodate Tailor made safaris. You can therefore design your own route and itinerary within Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Botswana
Botswana is roughly the size of France or Kenya @ 581 730 Km the extreme distance from North to South is 1100km and from east to west at its widest 1000 km. The population of Botswana is estimated at 1,5 million people, one of the lowest population densities in Africa. 80 % of Botswana is covered with Kalahari Desert excluding the northern Okavango and Chobe regions. One of the largest tourist destinations is the Okavango delta that provides a water supply in the Kalahari Desert. . The wildlife of the delta is spectacular and amongst the best in the world. If you do not wish to view game in an area where safari vehicles outnumber the animals then the Okavango delta is the ideal place to start your African safari. The large concentration of animals along with the abundance of bird life and the limitation of vehicles in the park makes your African safari an unique experience in Botswana. Skatul safaris has opted to specialise and concentrate their operations from the basin of the delta (Maun) We do value the interest of eco tourism and there fore have limited numbers on our safaris.

Botswana 4 x4 Wildlife Safari Experience

Wildlife and National Parks where safaris are conducted

Okavango Delta:
The Okavango Delta is a unique ecosystem that is situated in the middle of one of the largest stretches of sand in the world the Kalahari basin. It lies like an oasis in an inhospitable landscape. The vegetation is lush and the wildlife is of the very best in Africa. The Delta covers 16000km. The delta is one of the largest inland deltas in the world. The Okavango River starts on the Benguela Plateau in Angola, meanders through Kalahari sand of 1300km before entering Botswana and flows south towards the town Maun in the Thamalakane. The delta forms many islands in high season, which also act as a base camp for your mokoro and walking safari experience. The wildlife of the delta is amongst the best in the world, and certainly situated in the most unspoilt corner of Africa. If you do not wish to view game in an area where safari vehicles often outnumber the animals, The Okavango Delta is the place to visit. The delta offers a wide variety of wild- and- bird life which is not always to be matched anywhere in Africa.

Moremi:
The Moremi Game Reserve forms an intricate part of the Okavango Delta, comprising permanently swamped areas, seasonally swamped areas and dry land. It covers an area of 4871km², which is almost a third of the Okavango Delta. The Moremi is unique in that it is the first wildlife sanctuary created by an African tribe, namely the Batawana, and was finally proclaimed on 15 March 1963 by Mrs Moremi, wife of Chief Moremi 111. Moremi consists mainly of mopani woodlands and mopani veld. The remaining vegetation consists of riverine woodlands, floodplain grasslands, and marginal woodlands. Moremi is home to Buffalo, elephant, hippo, lion, wild dog, cheetah, leopard, and wide variety of antelope’s and an extraordinary collection of bird life. Moremi and his professional field guides offer an unforgettable wildlife experience, not to be missed.

Chobe:
The Chobe forms the northern border of Moremi and stretches to the west of Moremi named the Savuti area. The park covers an area of 10 698 km² which makes the 3 rd largest park in Botswana. It covers vegetation from the desert in Savuti to the floodplain grasslands in the north next to the Chobe River, hence the name of the park. Chobe host a wide variety of animals and especially in dry season, you have a large concentration around the Chobe River at iha-ha in the north. The contrast between the desert in the southwest and the woodlands in the north offer an extreme vegetation and wildlife experience that will leave you with an unforgettable experience.
