Weissenfels Guest Farm |
Weissenfels Guest Farm offers you the ideal stop-over between Windhoek and Swakopmund or Walvis Bay when driving the fascinating Gamsberg - Kuiseb - Namib route, or between Windhoek and Sesriem/Sossusvlei.
Four double budget rooms
Six double en-suite rooms
One family room which comfortably sleeps 4 people
One double room for tour guides
All meals are catered for in the traditional Namibian
farmhouse style. Overnight campers are welcome. Conference facilities are
available for groups of up to 20 people.
Hiking trails - Our hiking trails offer scenic walks through rocky
gorges where a swim in the rock pools brings relief to a tired hiker. A climb
up the granite hills surprises with a breathtaking view of the Gamsberg and
surrounding mountains. When passing a dam, do take time to stop and watch the
bird life. Maps on the hiking trails can be collected at the office or be
faxed for prior planning. Bookings should be made at least one week prior to
arrival. Hiking ration packs can be ordered at the Guest House.
Horse trails - Booking of horse trails should be done a week prior to
visit. Booking forms must be requested and completed to establish the needs of
the individual riders visiting, and returned to Guest House for evaluation.
Activities:
where the huge 'Guardians', carved carefully and lovingly by the forces of nature in the 'Valley of DaHa', speak to you as you pass by;
where the full moon enhances the dams with a dance of light and ever changing patterns, and the hoot of an owl adds to the enchantment;
where man and beast live in harmony, each respecting the other's will to live;
where horses roam the plains, freed from the confinement of stables and one can hear the clattering hooves of foals at play;
where the morning hours are filled with the song of birds combined with the musical tunes of a monochord;
where healing hands bring relief to pain and loneliness;
where evenings are more than just a sunset and guests become dear friends;
where the old farmhouse provides comfort to the tired, and warmth to the cold;
where the kitchen is filled by the smell of health and gives abundantly to the hungry;
where the best wines flow to bring joy and laughter to a restless soul.
Weissenfels Guest Farm covers 5 700Ha of pristine nature. The two farm dams offer the birder excellent opportunity to tick off that 'special one'. Game is plentiful and roams freely about the farm, and you may even encounter a leopard going about it's business. Game drives are organised or you can go out on horseback in a group. Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the dams.
