When: All year round - please see Diary. Programs are preferred not to be facilitated on SA long weekends unless requested. For guests looking for a quiet time, do avoid all long weekends and peak periods.
Where: Ponta do Ouro - Southern Mozambique borders South Africa and is 650km form Johannesburg and 400km from Durban. Ponta transforms herself from a kosi, quiet, lazy paradise in low seasons to a bustling and vibey tourist mecca in season.
Getting there: All host packages are self drive to the Kosi Bay border, transfers arranged. Guests do have the option of flying to Richard' s Bay or Durban and hiring a

Ages: Host youngest 6 months old and oldest 85 years old. Weather dependent.
Research Tours: The Essence of the Dolphin Tour is run every three moths and caters for the discerning dolphin enthusiast seeking for a deeper insight into the way of the wild dolphin. Join researchers as they systematically collect data and make sound recordings on the resident dolphins and migrating whales (in season) Run Sunday-Friday with 3 ½ day launches and 2 normal launches, 5 night program all inclusive ex one dinner. Group size maximum 6.

Dolphin Encountours & Dolphin Care Africa are the only dolphin/whale operators in Southern Mozambique who work in collaboration with the Natural History Museum in Maputo and have the appropriate transport license & authority to undertake marine mammal tourism in southern Mozambique.

DOLPHIN BEACH CAMP
Leave your worries & the chaotic energy of the city behind as you remove your shoes and walk on the soft beach sand. This unique style ego-village is situated right on the beach and it is here that one will drift off into peaceful slumber with dolphin experiences guiding you into dream-time with the gentle ocean rhythm beckoning you. Magical and quaint there is direct access to the beach where early mornings are spent watching magnificent golden sunrises and searching for dolphins while sussing out the waves, wind and water conditions. Rustically constructed out of reed and wood, windchimes and hammocks adorn this little island style paradise that has been decorated with a splash of trendy hipness encompassing all that is dolphin! A wonder for kids, taking them into an space of nature, Robinson Cruso style...no tv’s, no play station or computer games. Just the beach, the dolphins and you. Stylish ablution facilities are within, have hot water showers and are serviced regularly. Casitas come with linen and mosquito nets, wood casitas with the addition of plug points and fans. Meals are served at the camp, either on the beach or in the main area and are prepared fresh by host resident chefs Roxy, Tina and Olinda. Vegetarians are catered for and sustainable sea food initiatives are followed. A small Trust Bar is on site for your convenience, selling local cool drinks, water and beer. Please bring along spirits and fancy potions!
Ideally placed, the Dolphin Beachcamp is a perfect event venue, catering from holistic dolphin retreats to extreme sport events as well as island style dolphin weddings and school functions. The Dolphin Research Center is on site and houses an impressive number of interesting and informative dolphin and marine related books, scientific publications and visual productions that have been collected and donated over the years.

ECO - ACTIVITIES
A number of eco-activities are available in and around Ponta. When the wind blows or the surfs up visit Moya Kite/Surf. On site instructors offer lessons in both kite
boarding and surfing, with gear hire and purchase available. Moya stocks both Cabrinah and Valcom clothing as well as a number of dolphin and seaside goodies.
Southern Mozambique is famous for its pristine coral reefs and scuba diving is a must for those qualified, please bring along a valid sea card. Dives range from the shallowness of Crèche at some 12 meters to deep shark dives at Pinnacles 35 meters. A number of concessions operate in the area and both gear hire and dive courses are available. Therapy sessions with Chris Ball offer craniosacral therapy, full body aromatherapy massage, back and neck as well as reflexology.
