Bwabwata National Park (formerly Caprivi Game Reserve)
Information on one of Namibia's
national parks.
Travelling along the main road B8 the park can be entered at Bagani (western check point,
200 km from Rundu) or, travelling from the east, at Kongola. The road passes through
reserve. Travellers may not leave the main road. No accommodation or facilities are
available. The distance from Bagani to Kongola is 190 kilometres.
The park is located within high risk malaria area. Precautions are necessary.
The Caprivi was named after General Georg Leo von Caprivi, the successor of
Bismarck as German Chancellor.
Please beware that game especially kudu, roan antelopes and elephants can
unexpectedly cross the road.
