The course is surrounded by granite boulders and "koppies" - or rocky outcrops - so typical of the South African Lowveld. While summers are generally warm and humid, locals are blessed with moderate winters. In fact, the overnight temperatures very seldom drops below 10 degrees C, even in the midst of winter.
