Accommodation South Africa

Die Ou Stal: enjoy spectacular sunrises over the Maluti Mountains in the comfort of genuine Transgariep hospitality. Within easy reach of all major sports facilities including water sport, bowls and an outstanding golf course. Mountaineering is a must and birdwatchers have the thrill of observing the rare Cape Vulture. Your hosts: Piet and Zenobia Labuschagne. The bedrooms are simple, cosy affairs with whitewashed walls and doors that open into a small kitchen. Breakfast, however, is served at the large dining table in the main house, atop wooden floorboards and next to a fridge surely dating from before fridges were invented (also wood): this intriguing feature is now a drinks cabinet. This area between Caledon and Orange Rivers, was once a haven for the nomadic San. With the arrival of the Basotho, and later the Voortrekkers, much squabbling over land ownership took place. There is plenty to do in the area too.
