Oddballs
Camp & Enclave Ngamiland |
Oddballs Camp is situated on the edge of Chief's Island, deep in the heart of
the Okavango Delta. The camp is accessible by light aircraft only. You will be
met at the airstrip and welcomed to the island by your professional guide, who
will remain exclusively yours, and yours alone, for the duration of your stay.
He will take you out daily in his own mokoro (dug-out canoe) and for walks on
the adjacent islands, introducing you to the spectacular scenery of the
Okavango and the abundant bird- and animal life the area offers. Accommodation
is in 3-man, 2.4m x 2.4m dome tents set on elevated wooden decks, each
enjoying a unique and spectacular view. Each tent is equipped with mattresses
& pillows, a light, and there are shared ablution facilities. Guests to
provide their own sleeping bags, flashlights and towels. Three meals a day are
served in the dining room overlooking the water.
There is a central bar/lounge area, scattered with large comfortable cushions
and couches to relax on and watch the sun melt below the horizon. A raised
viewing deck overlooks the sweep of the delta and is a perfect place to sip
sundowners and, if you're lucky, watch the resident elephant herds coming down
to the water to drink and bathe. A chess game is usually in progress - local
maintenance man KT is the man to beat. The main attraction at Oddballs' is a
mokoro trails into the delta. All equipment and provisions are provided
(including a tent, mattress & pillow, cutlery, crockery and pots & pans) and
are packed into your mokoro, and after an early breakfast you set off with
your guide for an unforgettable wilderness experience. Your trail will take
you along winding channels lined with reeds, and into the Moremi Game Reserve,
an area renowned for its diversity of bird- and animal-life. Your first and
last nights must be spent at Oddballs' itself, and if you plan to do a mokoro
trail, it must be for a minimum of two nights. Trust lodge's 20 years of
experience in these matters!
