Conditions of Rental

All vehicles are rented subject to Hertz Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement which must be signed by all  renters. This site is for information purposes only.

Rates

Rates are quoted in Namibian Dollars. Rates, conditions and information are subject to change without notice. Rates include maintenance, oil, Third Party vehicle cover and VAT but exclude fuel.

Kilometres

Time and kilometer charges are calculated from Hertz depot to depot.

Over Border Rentals

Written permission from Hertz is required before taking a vehicle beyond the borders of Namibia. A drop-off charge is levied for rentals terminating outside Namibia.

Availability

Certain groups and/or models may not be available at a particular branch.

Extension of Rental

Extension of rentals beyond the original date must be authorised by Hertz. Failure to comply with this procedure will result in renter driving the vehicle without Collision Damage Waiver / Comprehensive Collision Damage Waiver and/or Theft Protection / Super Theft Protection and without lawful permission.

Minimum Rental Charge

The minimum rental period is 24 hours. Rentals are charged in periods of 24 hours from the date and time of checkout. A 24 hour (one day) minimum charge applies.

Odometer

If an odometer is found to have been tampered with, the renter will be charged for 500km per day.

Age/Drivers License

The minimum age for drivers is 21. Drivers must be in possession of a valid unendorsed license.

Forms of Payment

Rentals will only be granted to holders  of an approved account or major credit card i.e. Visa, MasterCard. For credit card rentals, authorisation will be obtained.

Delivery/Collection

A delivery and/or collection fee will be charged.

Weekend Wheels

No one-way rentals or deliveries/collections are permitted. Weekend Wheels applies for rentals between Friday and Monday where the rental period is between 2-4 days and includes a Saturday. Branch operating hours apply. This rate is subject to availability.

Additional Charges

All fines and penalties incurred during the rental period are for the renter's own account. Loss of keys will result in an applicable charge being levied. A valet charge may be levied on dirty vehicle

Airport Surcharge

An airport surcharge is levied for all rentals commencing at airports

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Acceptance of this cover limits the renter's liability for damage to the responsibility as specified under Rates or the cost of the repairs, whichever is the lesser.

Comprehensive Collision Damage Waiver (CCDW)

Acceptance of CCDW includes cover for damage sustained where such damage, or the event giving rise thereto, occurred in a situation where no other vehicle, person, animal or object was involved.

Acceptance of CCDW also includes cover for damage sustained where the vehicle was being driven on a dirt/gravel/untarred road.

Acceptance of CCDW results in the applicable responsibility specified in terms being waived in the event of damage to the vehicle

Theft Protection (TP)

Acceptance of this cover limits the renter's liability for damage and/or loss to the responsibility specified under rates or the cost of replacing the loss, whichever is the lesser

Super Theft Protection (STP)

Acceptance of this cover results in the applicable responsibility specified in rates being waived in the event of theft.
If any of the above waivers are declined (CDW, CCDW, TP or STP), the renter will forfeit the cover stipulated under the heading and will be liable for the full damage and/or loss in relation to that specific occurrence.

Exclusions

Irrespective of cover purchased, the renter will be liable for the full value of the damage and/or loss where such damage or loss is sustained in circumstances including but not limited to the following:

Personal Accident Insurance

This insurance can be accepted at the time of rental and covers the renter and passengers of the rental vehicle up to a maximum of N$200 000 per incident, in the event of death or permanent disability resulting from a collision with another vehicle.

Personal Belongings

Personal belongings are not covered by CDW/CCDW, TP/STP or Personal Accident Insurance.
