Shakawe Lodge, established in June 1969, is situated 375 kms from Maun and 25 kms from Mohembo on the Botswana/Namibian border. Main activities include excellent birding, photography and riverine forest nature walks. Accommodation consists of 10 brick under thatch simple but roomy chalets with en-suite facilities and ceiling fan; there is a circular thatched boma used as a dining room, alongside a river-filled pond which attracts a large variety of birdlife, a licensed bar and small swimming pool overlooking the Okavango River.
The camp site overlooks the river under large, shady trees.

Shakawe Lodge camp site is situated on the bank of the Okavango river and offers comfortable tents and 10 camping sites. Our guests have a choice of staying in one of 4 tents that are furnished with 2 comfortable single beds.

The Campsite offers to its guests a bar with a kitchen for snacks, pizza and meals. There is also a large communal boma and braai area.

All 10 Campsites have electricity and its own barbecue area with water.

The ablution block has a scullery in the centre, with the ladies showers and toilets on the one side and gents on the other side.

Shakawe lodge is very popular for boating and offers a number of guided boats of varying sizes for fishing, birdwatching or cruises on the river.

Guests visiting Shakawe Lodge can enjoy various attractions and activities in the area such as the Tsodilo Hills (a World Heritage site with important rock art), the Drotsky Caves (accessible by 4x4 vehicle only) and the Mahango Game Park.
