Inn Backpackers Lodge has been around since 1994, the original backpacker
accommodation in the Western Cape wine lands near Cape Town. Its central
location, helpful staff, dormitory, double and camping options make it the
choice for travellers wanting to get to know the area. There are many ways to
enjoy the wine lands from driving yourself, cycling, taking a tour to pub
crawling the night away in this lively university town. Many restaurants
within walking distance and an abundance of entertainment from movies to
diamond buying to curio shopping. Horse riding, mountain biking, strawberry
picking, brandy tasting and awesome wine estates peppered with fresh fruit
from farms in this incredibly fertile, mountainous region. Nightlife is
abundant with live music and theatre from rock to opera interspersed among the
many venues. Eikestadnuus the local paper is the best place to check what's on
offer and when.
Stellenbosch is the ideal place to start you trip up or end your trip off "The
Garden Route". Its proximity to the airport makes it an easy 30min trip with
no traffic worries. The famous Easy Rider Wine Tour makes discovering the
scenic wine lands an effortless and highly enjoyable sensory experience. Host
registered tour guides take you to four different estates over the Stellenbosch Fransschoek and Paarl area. A cheese tasting (except Sundays),
cellar tour and restaurant lunch is included in the price. A package price is
offered if you stay for two nights at Stumble Inn and do the Easy Rider wine
tour.
Facilities: Being a backpackers lodge, hosts have various options of
overnight accommodation. Dormitory beds are bunk beds which are in lockable
rooms (normally 6 beds per room). Each bed has a freshly cleaned fitted sheet.

however bedding is available if you arrive without. Double rooms have a comfy
double bed with all linen provided. Camping is in the shady garden and limited
to about 5 tents. All bathroom facilities are shared and cleaned daily. There
are two kitchens with fridges, and all the necessary equipment to self cater.
A public phone, ADSL internet computers, a pool table, swimming pool,
Satellite TV. Fantastic cappuccinos and espresso's from the espresso coffee
bar. Great breakfasts are available daily cooked to order. A safe for your
valuables.
On site travel agent Clive at Shiraz Travel will help you plan your trip, book
the best car hire, issue you local and international air tickets. Book your
overland safaris and game park trips with him and any special requirements you
might have will be sorted. Parking is off street and Establishment employ a security
guard to keep an eye out in the evenings.
Information about Stellenbosch: Stellenbosch is renowned for its
beautiful setting. Only 40 minutes drive or an hours train ride from Cape
Town. Great mountains and over 100 vineyards surround this historical town.
There are numerous museums and historical attractions. Sasol/ Art Museum;
Village Museum; Toy & Miniature Museum; The V.O.C. Kruithuis; Erfurthuis.
Shopping from diamonds and gold to books and curios.
Stellenbosch University with its high academic and sporting standards is
certainly worth a visit. With 0ver 17000 students there is always some type of
buzz happening. The restaurants and pubs (over 80) provide an enormous
selection of food and entertainment. Cinemas, shopping centres, supermarkets,
bookstores, boutiques, jewellery shops all add to the experience. The wine farms
and the wines are the added bonus and one can spend days getting to all of
them by bicycle, by car or with a tour operator. Taste wines in the town
itself at The Bergkelder or one of the other tasting outlets, (wine farms).
Related industries such as crafts, farm stalls, pottery, gift and clothing
shops all help to keep you occupied. Horse riding, mountain biking and hiking
are superb and a great way to spend a day. No wonder Stellenbosch is one of
the most popular Capetonian escapes, it caters for your every wish. Host specialty is arranging your discovery of the wine lands in and around Stellenbosch. From walking, riding a horse or a bicycle or doing a tour with
one of the many tour operators.
Shuttles to Cape Town, the Cape Town International Airport, transport up the
Garden Route via bus, air or car. Air tickets local and international, Safaris
through Africa and other interesting trips.

Backpacker style accommodation in dormitories or private accommodation in a private double room. Dorms have bunk beds and sleep from 6 people. A blanket and bottom sheet with a pillow is provided. Most people bring a sleeping bag or sheet with them. Private rooms have sheets and duvets and no additional bedding is required. All bathrooms are shared.
