LOCATION: Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve is an unspoilt part of Africa
ecologically and geographically integrated with the adjacent Kruger National
Park. It is situated within one of the oldest and largest proclaimed private
reserves - the renowned Sabi Sand Wildtuin. All lodges are unfenced and there
are no fences between ourselves and other reserves, allowing wildlife to roam
freely and giving guests the ultimate safari experience. Sabi Sabi lies 500 km
east of Johannesburg, 800 km north east of Durban and 200 km west of Maputo in
Mozambique. It lies on the same latitude as Sao Paulo and Brisbane and the
same longitude as Cairo, Istanbul and St. Petersburg.
SAFARIS: Sabi Sabi is renowned for giving guests an unforgettable
safari experience. Home to the Big 5 as well as hundreds of species of
animals, birds, insects, reptiles and plants (including rare and endangered
species), establishment offer close encounters with the wildlife. All safaris are
conducted in open landrovers under the supervision of host highly skilled and
trained field guides (rangers and trackers). There are two safaris daily –
each lasting around 3 hours and centre around prime viewing times (early
morning and late afternoon/evening). For a different experience guests can opt
for a mid-morning walking safari which reveals a totally different perspective
of the bush. The walking is approximately 2 hours long and guests are
accompanied by an armed field guide.
HOW TO GET THERE: Air:
• Daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg International Airport to Kruger
Mpumalanga International Airport, by either SAA or Nationwide, with a hop to
host airstrip on Federal Air.
• A daily Federal Air charter from Johannesburg International Airport to Sabi
Sabi’s airstrip.
• Scheduled flights from Durban and Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga
International Airport on SAA or Nationwide with a hop to the Sabi airstrip on
Federal Air.
• Sabi Sabi is a two-hour scenic drive from Nelspruit. Transfers can be
arranged by Sabi Sabi.
• Private air charters on request.
• Helicopter transfers on request.
* Complimentary transfers between Sabi Sabi airstrip and Sabi Sabi Lodges.
Car:
• 500 km from Johannesburg, an easy five-hour scenic drive on National Roads.
*The Sabi Sand Wildtuin levies a cash vehicle entrance fee (currently R60-00
per vehicle).
WHAT TO BRING:
• Dress completely informal. Neutral colours recommended.
(A full range of Safari clothing is available in host Curio Shops).
• Windbreaker or warm jacket for winter and night safaris.
• Comfortable walking shoes.
• Swimming costume - each lodge has a cool filtered pool.
• Binoculars, camera, video camera (don't forget extra film or camera tapes).
• Sunglasses, sunhats.
• Please note that Sabi Sabi is situated within a Malaria area. It is
recommended that guests consult their physicians.

TEMPERATURES AND SEASONS
Any time of year is a good time to visit Sabi Sabi, as each season has its own
wonders in the Bush. Spring and summer are host rainy seasons, which in turn
makes the bush green, lush and thick. It is also the time of year where there
are many newborn animals. Temperatures range from:
Spring (September to November) Average Minimum 20 Degrees Celsius
Average Maximum 31 Degrees Celsius
Summer (December to February) Average Minimum 22 Degrees Celsius
Average Maximum 35 Degrees Celsius
Autumn and winter are dry, the bush is less dense and with a lack of water,
animals frequent waterholes more often. Temperatures range from:
Autumn (March to May) Average Minimum 19 Degrees Celsius
Average Maximum 28 Degrees Celsius
Winter (June to August) Average Minimum 12 Degrees Celsius
Average Maximum 25 Degrees Celsius
