Location: Set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed on the Southern
end of host concession, the elegant 16 bed Rhino Post Safari Lodge is host luxurious trails “base” lodge.
Lodge: Built using natural materials of stone, wood, thatch & canvas,
the utmost info@namibweb.come was taken to minimise the environmental impact of the lodge,
and to that end, no concrete was used in the building's foundations. info@namibweb.comeful
consideration was taken in the layout of the camp, battery power is used for
lighting, special indigenous Reedbed System processes the bathroom waste, and
other waste is sorted and recycled wherever possible.
Suites: Stilts raise the 8 spaciously appointed suites from the
riverbank allowing guests to view the Mutlumuvi riverbed with ease from the
bedroom, bathroom and private wooden deck. The suites are set out in an open
plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and an overhead
fan. Each ensuite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, "his and hers"
basins, a separate toilet and an outdoor shower protected by thick reed poles.
The bathroom floor is attractively decorated with delicate mosaic designs
complimenting the contemporary floor. All the suites have mini-bars and
telephones linked to all areas.
Plains Camp
Location: Plains Camp is situated in the heart of the wilderness
concession overlooking the spectacular Timbitene Plain & waterhole. A 30
minute drive or approximately 3 hours walk from Rhino Post Safari Lodge.
Camp: Built in authentic pioneer tradition, it has the serenity of a
19th century naturalists rest, nestled in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket. Guest
will either arrive at Plains camp on foot or by lodge vehicle, depending where
their previous night was spent.
Tents: Plains Camp offers 4 comfortably furnished African explorer
style tents, en suite with hot running water and all the comforts of home with
the African Wilderness on your doorstep. A generator and a back-up battery
system power overhead fans and 24 hour lighting. The generator system can be
used to re-charge camera batteries at specific times.
Sleep Outs
Location: The elevated wooden Sleep Out platforms are located within
the concession; approximately 1.5 hours walk from Plains Camp.
Platforms: Guests will arrive on foot at the platforms in the early
evening info@namibweb.comrying a lightweight rucksack containing a change of clothes, a
pillowcase, a sheet inner for the sleeping bag and refreshments. After hanging
up mosquito net tents, fly sheets (only if necessary) sundowners can be
enjoyed on the platforms overlooking a waterhole.
The Trails
To ensure a varying and complete concession experience establishment suggest that guests
participate in a trail that encompasses all three experiences, Rhino Post
Safari Lodge, Plains Camp (primarily walking) and Sleep Outs, as each is
unique.
Walking Trails
Establishment specialise in luxury walking safaris, the most rewarding way to discover
and experience the secrets of the wilderness. Host walking trails are limited
to 8 guests guided by two armed rangers. Host guides meet the stringent
requirements of the South African National Parks and senior guides hold the
highest guiding qualification possible in South Africa.
Host guides will share their wealth of "bush culture": the identification of
animals, trees, grasses, insects, birds, the medicinal uses of plants, local
folk lore and basic tracking & survival skills. Nothing is predictable in the
bush therefore each safari offers a potentially new experience.
