Outapi, the main town of the Ombalantu Region along the C46 between Oshakati and Ruacana, is developing rapidly. As you approach from the south you will notice the large number of newly constructed government buildings and shops, including some small roadside restaurants and a supermarket. There is an exceptionally large baobab tree with a wide girth which in the past has served as a prison and is now a church. To visit the baobab, obtain permission at the police station; it is something of a national monument.
