TWICE A MONTH GORILLA ENCOUNTER 14 DAYS
KENYA UGANDA

Day 1/2 Lake Nakuru/Eldoret Camp LD
We depart the colourful metropolis of Nairobi and head for Lake Nakuru. Numerous animals are found here, but the shallow soda lake is particularly known for its bird life. Westward from the Rift Valley, we pass through verdant tea plantations, as we head towards the town of Eldoret on the banks of the Naiberi River.

Day 3/4 Jinja/Kampala Camp BLD
Today we enter Uganda, the 'Pearl of Africa', and head towards Jinja. We visit the source of the Nile before we setting up camp on the banks of the White Nile. We spend our next night in the bustling capital of Uganda.

Day 5 Lake Bunyoni Camp BLD
We set off en route to southwest Uganda. This region is home to roughly half of the remaining 700 Gorillas remaining in the world. We spend the night in anticipation and finalising our preparations for the next few days of trekking.

Day 6/7/8 Bwindi NP Camp BLD
An early start sees us enter the dense Bwindi forest. Our trek through the forest is an unforgettable experience. At times the trekking can be demanding and the day long as we search for the elusive gorillas.

Experienced local guides lead us through thick jungle, tracking where the gorillas will have nested overnight. Gorillas are extremely sociable and interactive primates, groups normally numbering between 12 and 20 individuals. Most people’s impression upon their first sighting of a 300kg silverback is a mixture of incredulity and awe. At close quarters the gorilla seems almost human in it’s mannerisms.

This is quite possibly one of the most thrilling and evocative experiences that Africa has to offer, and certainly one that will remain an enduring memory from your travels.

Day 9 Lake Bunyoni Camp BLD
We return to Lake Bunyoni today for some R and R after the excitement of the last few days.

Day 10/11 Jinja Camp BLD
A long day's drive brings us back to Jinja where we can enjoy all the optional activities on offer. One of the best activities is the rafting on the Nile, the longest river in the Africa.
Optional Activities: Rafting and Riverboarding

Day 12/13 Lake Naivasha Camp BLD
Today we re-enter Kenya to Lake Naivasha, the 'sunshine lake'. Here the option is available to do an overnight trip to the Masai Mara National Park or to remain behind, and go cycling in Hells Gate National Park.
Optional Activities: Masai Mara, Hells Gate NP, Elsamere

Day 14 Nairobi Camp BL
After a relaxing breakfast we make our way back to Nairobi for the end of our adventure. We normally end off the tour by going out for supper to one of the excellent local restaurants.

Alternative Route: If it is inadvisable or undesirable to travel to southwest Uganda, the above itinerary will be altered as follows:

Day 3/4/5/6 Jinja/Kampala Camp BLD
We have time to enjoy all the adventure activities that Jinja has to offer. Heading to Kampala we now have time to explore the capital of Uganda, and take the boat ride out to Chimp Island, to see the closest living relative to man.
Optional activities: Rafting, chimp island, etc…

Day 7/8 Kakamega Forest Camp BLD
A long day brings us to one of the last remaining equatorial forests in Kenya. We have time to take some of the many winding paths through the forest, and, if lucky, we might see some of the amazing animals there.
Optional Activities: Guided Forest walk

Day 9/10 Lake Baringo Camp BLD
Today we travel across the Great Rift Valley, climbing in and out of this natural phenomenon. We spend the next few days at yet another of Kenya's beautiful lakes. The days can be spent going on a boat cruise to see the large hippo population of the lake, and the abundant bird life. Or you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity.
Optional Activity: Boat Cruise

Day 11/12/13 Lake Naivasha/ Mara Camp BLD
Today we continue on to Lake Naivasha. The next morning we head off to the Masai Mara NP for some serious game viewing. If you are lucky you might see part of the yearly migration of animal herds from July till September.

Day 14 Nairobi Camp BL
After a relaxing breakfast we make our way back to Nairobi to the end of our adventure in East Africa. Our groups normally end off the tour by going out for supper to one of the excellent local restaurants, specialising in African cuisine.

While it is our intention to adhere to the route described above, there is a certain amount of flexibility built in top the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary or desirable to make alterations Please use this as a guide only.
