Hluhluwe Hotel |
Hluhluwe Hotel & Safaris is set in the heart of the Kingdom of the Zulu and
the beautiful untamed Elephant Coast in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Hluhluwe
Hotel & Safaris is renowned for its African ambiance, excellent cuisine and
personal touch provided by friendly staff and owners Patrick and Jill Eliot
who live by their motto "Hospitality is host Game". This hotel's greatest asset
is it's location ideally situated between the world renowned Hluhluwe/Umfolozi
Game Reserve and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site.
Where the untamed wildlife and marine reserves meet creating an eco-system of
unparalleled bio-diversity.
"This must be the only place on the globe where the world's oldest land mammal
(the rhinoceros) and the world's biggest terrestrial mammal (the elephant)
share an eco-system with the world's oldest fish (the coelacanth) and the
world's biggest marine mammal (the whale)." Former President Nelson Mandela
-10th August 2001.
Hluhluwe Hotel & Safaris is also within easy reach of Sodwana Bay, St. Lucia,
Cape Vidal, Lake Sibaya, Mkuze Game Reserve, as well as Ndumo Game Reserve,
Tembe Elephant Park and Lake Josini. The Hotels safari company, "Hluhluwe
Safaris" arranges three, six and nine hour safaris into the game reserve.
Champagne breakfasts, bush braais, lunch packs as well as picnics in the Park
can also be arranged on request. Qualified field guides will take you on
safari in comfortable, modern open game drive vehicles. Hluhluwe Hotel &

The restaurant area and pubs are fully air-conditioned with a Big TV screen in
the Rhino Bar. The Hotel offers excellent cuisine together with a wine list
offering some of South Africa's most interesting wines to compliment the
atmosphere of the cultural charm of the restaurant. The infamous Rhino Bar
inside the hotel was a famous watering hole in the seventies and a bullet hole
remains as proof of the untamed spirit of the early years.
A magnificent outdoor bar on the swimming pool terrace, under a gigantic
Umkanyakude (Fever Tree) provides the perfect setting for the Zulu dance shows
and sundowners in the evenings. A conference facility is available with
business facilities such as e-mail, fax, photo-copying and a secretarial
service. A traditional Zulu Boma (Kraal) provides an alternative outdoor venue
for shows and dinner under the African sky. The hotel's curio shop offers
anything from beautiful handcrafted African curio's to a variety of safari
clothing, or you can purchase any of the African music CD's which provide the
background music to set the scene.
