Established in 1904, the Himeville Arms Country Hotel has long been a famous
destination in the Southern Drakensberg, South Africa. Situated on the main road in the
quaint village of Himeville, it is a pleasant drive on tar. Nestled below the
towering Drakensberg mountains, the Himeville Arms, with its Old English charm
and decor, welcomes you for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in two star
accommodation. The district is renowned for its natural beauty, trout waters
and walks. Guests can enjoy fishing as well as golfing, hiking, horse-riding,
tennis, bowls and squash and the famous Sani Pass all nearby. Its the ideal
stop over to the great "Wild Coast".
The Himeville Arms offers
A comfortable en suite rooms are dotted through the beautiful grounds of the
hotel. Hosts also have two family suites- two bedrooms sharing a bathroom which
each sleep four. Establishment can accommodate a total of 35 persons and are therefore
the ideal accommodation for large tour groups. Six fully serviced Back Packer
Rooms sleeping 14 persons are also available. Dining room and pub provide
all meals and cream teas are available in the guest lounge and on the
verandah. Come to this quiet country hotel to relax completely! Laze by the
pool, enjoy the rich birdlife, and take in the views. Hosts offer ideal
conference facilities for up to 50 delegates. A conference room is a lovely
old sunken hall, stone-walled with a cozy fireplace.
The beautiful district is coursed by sparkling streams, rivers and dams,
offering some of the best fly-fishing and hiking/walking in the country. Play
golf in some of the most beautiful locations in the country. There are three
courses in the district - the Underberg Country Club, Sani Pass Hotel and
Drakensberg Gardens Hotel all of which can be booked at the hotel. This place
is ideal for hiking and walks so hosts are very happy to arrange guided and
unguided tours for you.
A great attraction is a trip up the Sani Pass into the Mountain Kingdom of
Lesotho. Bring your passports and hosts book you on a day trip by 4 wheel drive
to the top of the Drakensberg. Local places of interest include the Himeville
Museum, the Himeville Nature Reserve, the Roy Aldous Dam, The Drakensberg Park
- now a World Heritage Site, and local craft, pottery and gift shops.
