For most travellers, Grunau is either the
first petrol station north of the South African border or a place to await
a lift to Ai-Ais, Fish River Canyon or points beyond. It's also a logical
overnight stop for weary drivers between Cape Town and Windhoek, or for
those arriving too late to reach the Fish River Canyon area lodges.
