Where to eat in Namibia
You will find any kind of places to
eat in our country suitable for every taste and every pocket from
take-aways, cozy coffee
shops to steak houses, pizzerias and expensive gourmet restaurants.
The German colonial heritage transferred to traditional German cuisine can be found in
many local restaurants especially in small coastal town Swakopmund where plenty of seafood
can be enjoyed as well.
You can compliment your meal with Namibian beer brewed according to Reinheitsgebot -
German law of purity of beer (1516).
Although South African beer is not as good as Namibian one (not at all! - you can not call
a beer this sweet synthetic substance, giving you a headache next morning), there is a
choice of their perfect wines available in every restaurant.
Some noteworthy restaurants that we can recommend: Spur Steak Ranch, Dune
Restaurant (Kalahari Sands Hotel) (all in Windhoek), Raft Restaurant in Walvis Bay,
Swakopmund Hotel Restaurant and Captains Tavern in Swakopmund.
Joe's Beer House in Windhoek is one of the most popular - portions are still huge!
Some restaurants in lodges and guest farms offer excellent cuisine. Here are some of them:
Epako Lodge, Twyfelfontein
Lodge (dinner and breakfast are excellent but lunch is very
basic), Sossusvlei Lodge.
