De Kelders B&B Western Cape |
You’ve
come to the right place. De Kelders B&B gives the area’s claim to fame as the
best land-based whale watching in the world a whole new meaning. De Kelders
B&B is superbly situated on the shores of Walker Bay where you can bear
witness to the Southern Right Whales who migrate here each year to calve and
nurse their young. They are frequently known to meander along the edges of the
kelp beds literally metres from the rocks! Take time out and stroll to the
water’s edge to get a closer look at host resident seal colony frolicking in
the kelp beds or simply relax comfortably on your private viewing deck and sip
cocktails whilst enjoying a spectacular sunset as you take in the unmatched tranquillity afforded by the protected Fynbos surroundings of the Klipgat
Nature Reserve.
De Kelders B & B is superbly situated on the seafront with protected fynbos
surroundings allowing an uninterrupted view of Walkerbay, where spectacular
sunsets reflect upon the water and alight the mountains beyond. Unmatched
tranquility provides the visitor with excellent land-based whale-watching, a
small seal colony always visible beyond the kelp, rock-rabbits, mongooses,
tortoises, birds and even a nightly visit from a porcupine. The rooms on the 1
st floor were designed, build for and named after host children. Each room has
its own warm character and the sea view from the two double rooms, James and Elmien is magnificent, offering whale watching from bed! Elmien now has a
sliding door, leading to a comfortable private balcony with uninterrupted
views that is undescribable The twin bed room, Daleen, faces the nature
reserve and fynbos garden. All with quality en-suite bathrooms and have both
baths and showers with modern tiles and fixtures Guests share a lounge with
coffee, tea and snack facilities and large wooden deck overlooking Walkerbay.
The new Whale room is situated on the ground floor. The view over Walkerbay is
unsurpassed, even from the bathroom and shower It has access to the 1 st floor
and also direct access to the car park and sea. The whale room has its own
coffee and tea making facilities including a bar fridge, microwave and
prepbowl. The sliding door leads to a Garden Patio where Porcupines can
sometimes on a moonlit night be seen. Weather-permitting, the delectable
breakfast is served on the deck.
