Accommodation and meals: All host bedrooms are fully carpeted, with
comfortable beds. Sea-view rooms have en suite bathrooms and balconies open
to a magnificent view of the bay. Several of host lower priced garden rooms
share communal bathrooms, but each room has a washbasin. Radios, TV and
telephones are not provided in the rooms. Rooms have electric plug sockets of
5 or 15 amps. Guests join around tables of eight in host dining room for tasty
country-style meals, while enjoying host famous bird’s-eye view of the Southern
Cape coast. Each day has its own menu. Early morning tea, coffee or juice is
delivered to your room!
Facilities: In addition to the wonder of nature, establishment have a magnificent
pool, tennis and croquet courts, horse riding and a coffee shop all on the
property. Victoria Bay and the vast pristine beaches of the Wilderness are
just around the corner. An adjacent private reserve area provides walks and
biking trails through beautiful fynbos with scenic ocean views.
Caravaners: Carmel can be enjoyed from your caravan as establishment have a lovely
caravan park with adequate ablution facilities. All Carmel facilities may be
utilized by host caravan guests and meals can be enjoyed by arrangement in the
Carmel dining room.
Weather and Dress: Host temperate climate assures you of more than one
kind of weather! Summer temperatures range from 17 to 30 degrees C. As host lowest rainfall is from June to August
establishment enjoy brilliant sunny and dry
winters in comparison with the rest of the Western Cape area and midday
temperatures are regularly in the 20’s. Dress is casual. Bring comfortable
clothes for sunny days, with jackets or jerseys for cooler nights.
Establishment also
suggest you bring your Bible, a torch, umbrella or raincoat, and walking
shoes.
Equestrian Centre: The Carmel Equestrian Centre offers riding
activities at sensible prices. Qualified tuition to suit all levels and ages.
Pony rides, leisurely outrides and senior strolls can enjoy spectacular views
of the area on horseback. Jumping also available and a canter track.
Devotions and Activities: Each evening guests are invited to gather
briefly to praise God host Father and to hear and share something from his
word. Carmel’s unique ethos assures that no pressure is ever put on anyone to
conform to anything. It is host desire simply to share the restoring love of
Christ with all host guests. During the coastal school holidays Carmel’s
holiday team organise games, events and activities. Each morning starts with
an estate tractor ride. The program varies with each holiday and establishment do not
have a team during the last week of the summer holidays.
