Banoka Bush
Camp |
Banoka Bush
Camp comprises 10 tented units, and is located in the Khwai Community
Concession, one of the most diverse areas in northern Botswana, which seldom
disappoints when it comes to producing extraordinary wildlife experiences. The
life source for this area is the Khwai River - the northernmost "finger" of
the Okavango Delta alluvial fan. The
camp is named in honour of the River San, or Banoka, ancestors of the Khoi and
the earliest settlers of the Okavango Delta.
Guided game drives will explore the Khwai Concession and adjoining Moremi Game
Reserve with nature walks also possible. Mokoro excursions float down the Khwai's secretive channels to provide that classic Delta experience.
Banoka Bush Camp is part of a community partnership between Safari Adventure
Company and the Khwai Community represented by the Khwai Development Trust.
This partnership, as with all Safari Adventure Company's community agreements,
aims at bringing the benefits of ecotourism to the communities that live
alongside conservation areas.
Aside from a significant annual lease fee paid directly to the Trust, the
Khwai Development Trust and the community of the Khwai Village benefit from
the many employment opportunities as well as training and skills development
in the ecotourism and hospitality industry. In most situations where we pursue
this model we find that these benefits are roughly 2-3 times greater in
financial measures that the lease fees themselves and further stimulate the
local economy through multiplier effects. In addition Safari Adventure Company
has an ongoing commitment to uplift the living standards of the community.
