Experience country living on a historic Cape Dutch estate built 1802, centrally situated in the historic heart of Swellendam. The guest house is owner managed, offering superb hospitality with great attention to detail, focussing on quality, comfort and style. 3 Luxury cottages (1 double), 2 garden suites and 1 family unit with classic contemporary decor, set in 1,5 hectares of luxuriant gardens with much indigenous flora and an abundance of birdlife. Spacious guest areas in and around the historic house where one can relax and enjoy a drink in the lounge, on the patios or the veranda overlooking the gardens. A memorable breakfast is given under the vines in summer and in front of the log fire in winter.
Swellendam is the jewel of the Overberg and the 3 rd oldest settlement in South Africa situated halfway between Cape Town and the start of the Garden Route. Swellendam is renowned for its architecture, fascinating history, potters and great outdoor life i.e. Horse riding, Hiking, Canoeing.

The area offers a variety of scenic routes which includes;
De Hope Nature Reserve for whale watching and its pristine beaches.
The Tradouw pass to Barrydale, linking the Overberg to the Little Karoo.
Local wine route with some outstanding award winning wines.
Bontebok National Park, only 7 km from Swellendam
Golf : Well-maintained 9-hole golf course. Picturesque setting with fantastic views over the Langeberg mountains.

Room 1 : family suite, queen-size bed plus small bedroom with single bed. Bath and shower.
Room 2 : double room in main guest house, standard double bed. Shower only.
Room 3 : Garden suite : single beds or king-size bed. Shower only.
Room 4 : Free standing honeymoon garden suite : Queen-size bed. Double bath and shower
Room 5 + 6 : 1 very spacious thatched cottage, ideal for group or family. Bath and shower.

Facilities & services: Breakfast under the vines in summer and in front of a log fire in winter. Cheese platters and a fine selection of local wines are offered -to enjoy in the comfort of your own room in front of a crackling fire or on your private patio -between November and April, for those who want to give a full on restaurant a miss.

Protea: Spacious family suite. Main bedroom with queen-size bed leading into lounge area with fire place. Off the main bedroom a 2nd smaller bedroom with single bed. (an extra mattress can be added 2 nd child). Both have own entrance to shared spacious bathroom with Victorian bath and separate shower. Ocher floors and wooden ceiling. Air-conditioning (heating and cooling), fans, safe, Music station and TV. Private patio and parking.

Aloe: Private Garden suite with single beds or king-size bed (please state preference). Shower only. Lounge with fireplace and French doors opening on to private patio. Wall to wall carpet, reed ceiling. Air-conditioning (hot and cold), fan, TV, music station, microwave and safe, in room. Safe private parking.

Strelitzia: Private garden honeymoon suite with queen-size bed. Romantic bathroom with big bath and separate shower. Lounge with fireplace. French doors opening to private patio. Ochre floor, reed ceiling. Close but private from pool. Air-conditioning (hot and cool), microwave, safe, fan and music station in room

Red-hot poker: A spacious luxury thatched roofed cottage, built in old style e.i. thick walls, thick wooden beams, reed ceiling, wooden floor. 2 bedrooms en suite, both with private entrance and patio. Single or king size beds (please state preference), 1 with shower above bath and 1 with shower only. Lounge with fireplace and balcony. Safe, fan, music station and TV in rooms.
Not self catering.

Arum & 8 Varkoor: Two luxury cottages, built in old style, thick walls, reed ceilings. Bedroom with king-size beds and bathroom with double basins, spa-bath and big walk-in shower. Lounge with fire place. Private patio and parking. Air-conditioning (heating and cooling), fan, safe, music station and satellite TV. Ideal for honeymooners.
