Arnhem Cave day tours
Namibia's largest and
longest cave and tours to this place of interest.
The Arnhem cave is the longest cave system in the country and located about 125 kilometres
from Windhoek.
The length of the cave is 4.5 kilometres. The cave was discovered in 1930
by farmer Bekker and for some time was a source of guano.
There are five species of bats inhabiting the cave:
1. Giant leaf-nosed (Hipposideros commersoni)
2. Long-fingered (Miniopterus schrelbersi)
3. Leaf-nosed (Hipposideros caffer)
4. Egyptian slit-faced (Nycteris thebalca)
5. Horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus denti)
Day tours are conducted on request. Torches are supplied. Duration of the tour is approximately 8 hours. Old clothes are advised as the cave is dusty.
